Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Lauren Hashian’s love story began in 2007.
The pair first met on the set of The Game Plan in 2006 and started dating the following year. They were in a relationship for 12 years before getting married in 2019. In addition to Johnson’s daughter Simone Alexandra with ex-wife film producer Dany Garcia, the married couple share two children together: Jasmine and Tiana.
The Black Adam actor has been in the spotlight since 1996 when he rose to fame as a professional wrestler. Since he transitioned into acting in the early 2000s, Johnson has starred in multiple blockbuster films, including Moana and The Fate of the Furious. Hashian, on the other hand, tends to live a more private life despite her career as a musician.
Speaking with Vydia in August 2017, Hashian opened up about her hesitation to make music videos because she values “keeping a low-key profile and holding onto privacy and normalcy.”
"Since my man spends much of his life in front of a camera, I’m a little more reserved with stepping out and being ‘out there’ as much,” she said. “It just gives us balance, and makes you appreciate privacy and a ‘normal’ life even more. I think we’ve done a good job of being able to hold onto that somewhat!”
So, who is Dwayne Johnson’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Lauren Hashian and her relationship with the actor.
Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian's Relationship Timeline
She grew up in Massachusetts
Hashian was raised in Massachusetts by her parents, Sib and Suzanne Hashian. She has two siblings: her sister Aja and her brother Adam.
Sib was the former drummer for the rock band Boston, and Hashian told Billboard in December 2021, she was destined to become a musician because her dad’s drum room was next to her bedroom as a kid.
“Even after his band had already split up, he practiced every single day of his life in the drum room,” she said. “Seeing him practice every day, for me, it became part of my purpose — ‘He practices every day, I should practice every day, too.’ ”
She later attended Emerson College in Boston, where she turned her dorm room into a recording studio and won a talent competition, according to a Coveteur interview in October 2018.
She is a musician
After graduating with a bachelor's in public relations and communications, Hashian chose not to pursue music as a recording artist. Instead, she took a job as the creative synch coordinator at Warner Music Group and later worked for the music department at Paramount Pictures, per her LinkedIn.
Once Hashian had her daughters, it inspired her to return to her original music.
“I was too shy of a kid, and I really wasn’t not shy until … I became a mother,” she told Billboard. “And then I felt way more confident in my own body and my own feelings. It was like, ‘Well, you can’t be scared of anything anymore, because you don’t want to teach your kids that, right?’ ”
Her projects include the track “Ride The Wave” with Natalie Martinez and Naz Tokio, released in 2020, and an EP titled Love…And Other Things (Side A) that dropped in 2021.
She also co-wrote the song “On The Run” by Naz Tokio, which played during the end credits of Red Notice and directed the music video for Eric Zayne’s “Exile,” which was featured in Black Adam.
She met Johnson in 2006
Hashian crossed paths with Johnson on the set of the sports comedy movie The Game Plan in 2006, and they started dating a year later. The actor told WSJ. Magazine in December 2019 that neither of them was looking for a relationship at the time, as he had just split with his ex-wife Garcia.
“At the time, I was going through my breakup with Dany and [Hashian] was just coming off a big breakup, too,” he said. “Ironically, when you’re not looking for something, the power of the universe kind of takes over.”
Speaking to PEOPLE in February 2012, Johnson further expressed how lucky he felt to find love again.
“I was so fortunate to have fallen in love once,” he said. “To fall in love again? That’s a hard thing to do twice in the position I’m in. I’m one lucky son of a bitch.”
She was close with her dad
In March 2017, Sib died at 67 after collapsing mid-performance while on a Legends of Rock-themed cruise.
Johnson honored him with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. “Rest In Peace & Love to my second dad Sib Hashian,” he captioned a family photo. “Your passing in this manner is extremely poetic and somehow beautiful. Thank you for the many life lessons you've taught over the years … We love you Sib.”
A day before Johnson and Hashian tied the knot, she shared an old family picture on Instagram remembering her father on what would’ve been his 70th birthday.
“Dad, I miss you everyday, I love you and wish you could be here to see all of this too… But I know you have the penthouse view now. Thank you for still being with us & walking with me in your new way… We ❤️ YOU,” she wrote.
She secretly married Johnson in 2019
Johnson and Hashian wed in Hawaii on Aug. 18, 2019, after 12 years of dating.
The actor told WSJ. Magazine that he hesitated to marry again because of his previous relationship. “My divorce did a number on me,” Johnson said. “I wasn’t fearful of getting married again, there was just some hesitancy. But Lauren was incredibly patient: ‘I love you, you love me, we have this amazing life together — no presh.' ”
The pair’s nuptials were top-secret, and they went to great lengths to ensure no paparazzi were present for their big day. “We had a full security detail in case there were helicopters,” Johnson added. “No one knew. I was shocked but so grateful. My life is so loud and noisy; the fact that it was quiet was a big win.”
Johnson and Hashian exchanged vows at 8 a.m. in front of a small group of people, including their two children, the actor’s mother and his producing partner Hiram Garcia, who is his ex-wife's brother.
Hashianwore an open-back Chantilly lace gownby Mira Zwillinger for the intimate beachside ceremony. Johnson opted for a white dress shirt and matching trousers from Ralph Lauren.
She is a mom of two
Johnson and Hashian are the parents of two daughters. The couple welcomed their older child, Jasmine, on Dec. 16, 2015, and their younger daughter, Tiana, on April 17, 2018.
Speaking with Coveteur in October 2018, Hashian said that because their family moves around a lot, she’s often juggling work and being a “constant” presence for her children.
“I do feel like I have to be the ... one foundation in the girls’ life, so every single day I’m with them from the time they wake up until nap time,” she said. “If I’m going to work that day, I wait until she [Jasmine] goes to sleep, then I go to work for four to five hours."
Hashian continued, "It’s amazing when you have kids and you have goals, you just find a way to fit it all in, and you don’t necessarily work harder with your time, you just work smarter and find a way to get it all done.”
In May 2021, Johnson posted a sweet Mother’s Day tribute to Hashian on Instagram, praising her for being a role model for their daughters. The actor called his wife "the KINDEST, WARMEST & HAPPIEST (and toughest;) SOUL."
He captioned personal pictures of Hashian, "You are the shining example to our daughters who's love and adoration for you is boundless - that it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. ily dj x #happymothersday ❤️."
She released a song dedicated to Johnson in 2020
On their first wedding anniversary in August 2020, Hashian released the song “Step Into a Love Like This” alongside a video on Instagram. She had written the track two weeks before her wedding to Johnson and presented it to her husband privately before they said, “I do.”
The two intended to get married in 2018 but postponed for a year because Hashian was pregnant with their second daughter, Tiana. When Hashian debuted the song's music video in October 2020, she hinted at other delays and the visual for “Step Into a Love Like This” featured wedding footage from couples affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“After releasing ‘Step Into a Love Like This’ and sharing our wedding video with the world, Dwayne and I received a lot of messages from people who had their own wedding plans derailed,” Hashian said in a press release for the video.
She continued, “While it wasn’t due to COVID, we had our own set of unforeseen obstacles to get to our wedding day. This year has presented so many hurdles so we wanted to do something to honor these couples. What it turned into was more than we ever expected. It became a celebration of love from all over the entire world, honoring all kinds of people, families and couples.”
They got even closer during the COVID-19 pandemic
In an Instagram video from April 2020, Johnson revealed that while he and Hashian would occasionally “get snippy” with each other during quarantine, he felt it had “a very positive effect on my relationship and my marriage.”
The former wrestler also shared that his wife was “the best” during quarantine, and they tried “to go easy on each other, to go light and not get too judgy.” He then offered advice for other couples who were getting “short-tempered” with their partner during lockdown.
“Grab your partner by the shoulders, like I grabbed Lauren," Johnson wrote in the caption. "Look them directly in the eyes and say with full 💯 conviction, ‘baby, you’re not wrong….you’re just not used to being right’ and then count the seconds it takes for you both to belly laugh your assess off."
She and Johnson are very supportive of each other
Johnson and Hashian are each other’s biggest supporters and aren’t afraid to show it.
Hashian is often on hand for the actor’s red-carpet premieres, including Red Notice in 2021 and Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019. She was also there to support Johnson in 2017 when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During an interview with Esquire in June 2015, he named Hashian as a reason for his success.
"We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter isn't mentioned," he said. "With all the cool s--- and success that I've been lucky enough to get? That doesn't happen unless the home life is solid."
Johnson is just as supportive of Hashian’s music career. He brought their daughters to witness her perform the National Anthem at an NFL match between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in December 2022 and referred to it on Instagram as “one of the greatest and most moving moments of my life.”
Speaking with Vydia in August 2017, Hashian said Johnson fuels her inspiration and is one of her biggest motivators.
“Dwayne has been such a major driving force in my inspiration. He is my motivator and my sounding board every day,” she said. “He is an example of how anything you can imagine or dream up, you can do because he lives that way. So when you see that every day, it fuels you & lifts you up too.”
